The HRD Ministry has been invited by all 20 Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) to exclude reservations from faculty quotas for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes and Economic Weaker Sections(EWS).
The Ministry has requested the premier business schools to offer SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates who are not currently offered quota in the faculty.
The B-schools have sought exemption according to officials by claiming that they follow fair recruitment and equal opportunities for all, including deprived groups of society.
The IIMs have so far exempted scientific and technical posts from the reservation policy following the 1975 Order of the Department of Personnel & Training. Ahmedabad is caught in the high court in a fight over this subject.
In November 2019, the Human Resource Development Ministry wrote to all organizations to ensure that the Central Teachers’ Act was enforced.
On Wednesday, a separate communication was sent to all IIMs to ensure that’ servers of posts indirect recruitment’ were reserved, which considered the Institute as a unit as provided for in the Act of 7 March 2019.
