At CES 2020, Samsung has unveiled its new line of T7 and T7 Touch portable SSDs. The highlight here is that the T7 Touch includes an onboard fingerprint sensor.
We’ve seen up to now that SSDs are mostly password-protected, but adding a fingerprint sensor improves protection even more. It also saves us from being locked out if we forget the password and prevent other people from accessing sensitive data.
What Are The Features Of Samsung T7 And T7 Touch Features?
Other than the fingerprint sensor, the features of both T7 and T7 Touch are similar. The SSDs support AES 256-bit hardware encryption and password protection for added security.
Samsung T7 and T7 Touch support USB Gen 2 standards to achieve 1050 MB / s read speeds and 1000 MB / s write speeds. The last SSDs are twice as fast as compared to the predecessor T5.
Samsung has also made them drop-resistant up to 2 meters high, meaning that the SSDs can withstand accidental dropping conditions.
The T7 Touch is able to be purchased in more than 30 countries around the world starting this month. Users can choose from 500 GB ($130), 1 TB ($230) and 2 TB ($340) along with the colour options in black and silver.
As far as the launch of the T7 is concerned, something will be on sale in Q2 2020.
