MacDill Air Force Base, the U.S. Central Command Headquarters in Tampa, in Florida, was on lock-down shortly Friday after a report from an armed suspect in the vicinity.

The base stated in a statement that it was locked at about 7 a.m. According to local authorities, “There was an armed and dangerous suspect near the MacDill Air Force Base Tanker Waygate area.”

There were no shots fired at MacDill and MacDill employees were not injured, the base said. Local authorities were currently looking for a suspect, according to the base in a previous statement.

The Sheriff’s Office of the Hillsborough County later confirmed that there was no active MacDill gunman. After about an hour, the lockdown was removed, with all the doors outside the Tanker Way Gate opening according to the base.

The United States Central Command oversees US military operations in the Middle East. In addition to USCENTCOM, MacDill is headquartered in the US Special Operations Command
