Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker in the world’s box office is over one billion dollars. The new Star Wars element, released last month, completes the story that started in A New Hope. Although the film is successful at the box office, it does the worst of the sequel trilogy technically. The opening weekend was the lowest and trails were still behind The Last Jedi.

Big Year For Disney

For Disney, 2019 was a big year. Movies such as The Lion King and Toy Story 4 have been successes around the world. Disney published Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to end the year. Although The Last Jedi was a division of fans, the expectation for the new film after the title announcement and the first trailer was strong. The Rise of Skywalker is doing big business for Disney, as planned. But it is ineffective compared to The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. There are various factors to examine the success of the Skywalker box office increase. The critical reception for the current film is much more negative than the previous two films. The Rise of Skywalker, however, is a strategic accomplishment. Yesterday it was reported that Star Wars: The rise of Skywalker would be $1 billion higher, and now it is official.

After 24 days, Star Wars: Skywalker’s rise has gone to box offices worldwide for over $1 billion. That makes this achievement, a milestone for the business and industry as a whole, the 7th Disney film of 2019.

The Estimates Of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

The Rise of Skywalker has made $481.3 million on domestic markets and $519.7 million on international markets, according to estimates. It will be exactly one month from release in five days. The theater run of the film is not yet over, so it will keep rising at the box office. But it certainly won’t reach the $1,333 billion gross of The Last Jedi.

It is interesting to examine why The Rise of Skywalker got a tentative reception. The film was somewhat like Avengers: Endgame. All resulted in a long saga. Yet Avengers: Critics and fans alike lauded Endgame for its satisfactory conclusion to the plot. For The Rise of Skywalker, many did not see the film as a successful conclusion, but instead, they felt disconnected from the previous film. The Star Wars 9 script of Colin Trevorrow reportedly leaked recently, which already received some positive reception. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at least ended the overall saga with the focus of the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy: hope.
